The law, in plain English

The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 make the organiser responsible for the whole package. Cancellation entitles you to a full refund within 14 days. Where significant parts of the holiday fail or fall short, you are entitled to a price reduction and, in the right cases, compensation, and the organiser must help when things go wrong abroad.

How it usually goes

  1. Complain during the trip where possible and keep evidence: photographs, receipts, reports to the rep.
  2. A written claim to the organiser setting out the failures and the sums sought.
  3. Refusal: letter before action, then small claims; card chargeback can run alongside.
